Mathematics is the study and applications of numbers (*). Mathematics is
doing mathematics, and the theory of doing mathematics, and the product of
doing mathematics.
Mathematics can be formal and informal, is theoretical or applied, can
reason inductively and deductively, it is not necessarily consistent, it is
sometimes not even recursive...
(*) Numeric structures: "a number is all we can do with it (seriously)",
auto-cit.
