Just so you know - I offered a collaborative co-authorship to Ray if he would serve as the statistical expert on the team and he declined on the grounds that we need someone "local". So his willingness to function "pro bono" over the web to the extent that he has is even more praiseworthy.
Maybe it's best that I take his advice and try to find a collaborating local expert. But as I'm sure you're aware, such experts are in high demand and very very busy, i.e. they generally can't afford the time to come up to speed on "context". (If they weren't so busy, my colleagues at Princeton and Penn State would probably have already been able to find one. )
In any event, if you think I'm taking advantage of sci.stat.math (i.e. "page-pushing", to use the on-line idiom), just let me know and I'll cease and desist.
