I am a high school AP statistics teacher that also teaches statistics at night at the local Community College. I think the course we offer through AP is a lot me rigorous then the course at the Community College. The breath and knowledge my high school student gain more then makes up for the $ they have to pay for the test. Ken Lambright

She could check the facts but within many states there are agreements (or dictates;-) that the state's institutions of higher education accept credit from one another. And since the target course for AP Stats. is a Gen. Ed. course I'm not sure anyone will worry about whether it adequately prepares students for subsequent courses. She could look at places students go out of state but I'm not sure which they would be more likely to accept.
There is also the question of getting into colleges. I am not sure how Admissions Offices regard a CC course compared to an AP course. At least the latter are a known quantity.
Is it possible to work with the CC? She could show them the AP syllabus and the AP and college versions of BVD (chosen only because I've used both and there isn't much difference). If there is reasonable alignment they MIGHT be willing to accept that as long as the students take the CC final. Then she could ask for an old one to see if it is reasonable. Alas, that's not a foregone conclusion. It may ban graphing calculators and just consist of arithmetic practice.
