Seems like there is an awful lot of algebra in the geometry course that students need to master before taking geometry and lets face it, these kids aren't coming from 8th grade with a mastery level (unless advanced). Also I am not sure if the new Core Curriculum even teaches quadratic equations in 8th grade, so you might want to hold back until the new core is implemented fully and see the skills coming into 9th grade. I think there is a better case for offering alg2/trig before geometry, but that is another debate.

We offer geometry to 9th graders but after they have taken algebra in 8th. Those 9th graders do well with proofs.

Our school is contemplating moving Geometry to a freshman class and Algebra to a sophomore class. We feel that the students have enough algebra knowledge to do so from 8th grade. Our question is: are any of you doing it? If so has it been successful? Please advise ASAP. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
