Oh wonderful. The Rubric states that if they made a conceptual error (which this would, thinking that this means they solved the system of equations) they still had to find an appropriate value for y. Since the big pile of students who interpretted the question this way did NOT solve for an appropriate value for y, we awarded zero points, nor did we suspect to call Albany about this one. We're done grading. Been done for quite a while. So, now what? Wild guess - this affects about 30% of the exams we scored. But, we're not allowed to regrade the exams, are we?

We just called the state to check on #31 and they said one point should be awarded if students solved both equations correctly for y, in terms of x.
