Download Sage using a VM and you get access to a calculator for life (and it also uses maxima)

In fact, have a gander at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_computer_algebra_systems

Okay, maybe it surpasses simple, but learning to use one of the CASs is very helpful in any course, research, career.
