The root object contains the screen size in pixels, but not the actual physical dimensions needed to calculated the DPI. The 'ScreenPixelsPerInch' settings don't seem to be in related in any way to the actual monitor, but are instead set to some default value based on OS. For instance, running MATLAB on my laptop defaults to 72 DPI, but the actual value is close to 120 DPI.
