In the context of the POINT of my post, my statement regarding algebra was perfectly fine. I like Lou's word as well, transformation. Previously I have said "manipulation as a means to an end". Algebra is not mathematics, it is a subset of, a branch, with branch defined rather well after 100's of years. Move on along GS.
