I just noticed that they explicitly said 'A' (the mantissa)
was to be greater than or equal to 1 and less than 10. O-K,
then even in that case there are uncountably many correct answers:

For each real number A such that 1 <= A < 10 (e.g. A = 1), use

A x 10^[(log y/A)],

where y equals the given numerical expression.
