You should ask the person that gave it to you, or work through the code
yourself referring to the documentation for a description of any functions
you don't understand.
In either case I recommend you add comments to the code as you learn what it
does, so that six (or three, or one depending on your memory) months down
the line you can refer to those comments as an aid to remembering what it
does.
