The number of elements in a set is finite if and only if there is no injection from the set to any of its proper subsets, and is infinite whenever such an injection does exist.
This covers natural numbers and infinite cardinals. > > > http://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/finite-number.html > ³A definite number. Not infinite. In other words it could be measured, or > given a value. [ie 1]² There are a finite number of people at this beach.² --
