Probably things stored into our memory the way a facial recognizing program work is the basic principle, it doesn't store the object, it store a set of features or relations, so a face get parmeterised. From this follow that when you store information about world objects and persons it build on geometric priciples. Geometry is hardcoded into us. But since we have other senses then sight we can incorporate featurs like noisy, think of a jetplan flying low, hard think of steelbeam, soft think of lips, hot think of owen. So to meta objects or groups of objects we attach not only the geoemtrical perspective but also our other senses and schematas we have learned like shiny, metallic, glossy, colors, smooth, wet, dry well the list goes on and on. So when we see, think, hear about an object the shemata that store object features is activated it is our association. And the association not necessarily created by sight, conversation or imagination. Often it is smell, sound and receptors in our hands and feets. Just be feeling the surface upon an object you can create an illusion in the mind of what it is. Thus if you wear a bindle over eyes in the freezing vinter, and you walk in a indoor hall upon some artificial grass while a silent fan blows varm air and some UV lamps gaze upon your head, you may have an illusion of a hot summer day. But there is something missing, you have to add some outdoor recording of birtds, and maybe some hay or grass in a barrow, and the sound of a lawnmover to make the illusion perfect. And if you put a big screen movie of a garden in front you and take of the bindle, the illusion will even last a couple of seconds until you realise, it is all part of a stage set.
