you say "The numeral "0.999..." (name of a number) ..."
the symbol/numeral "0.999..." represents a number that never ends ie non-finite
only after the maths do you show "0.999..." =1
JT has already told you numeral number they are equivalent concepts "OP is correct. Neither 1/inf nor the set of {1,1,1...}/inf is a number. But they are equivalent concepts"
