Yes, and it is really a beauty (be it a 'binary search' or not!)
I too recall being asked about it when I was about that age (10, 11 or so) - and it puzzled the dickens out of me for quite some time! (A couple of days, if I am remembering it right).
And I believe getting the right answer was probably the very first "EUREKA!" experience I've ever had. I still get shivers down my back as I recall the thrill.
