Nabeel and Mathworks:
(1) I am hopeful that OSX will be a success and, as you say, you will
respond to market forces, and re-visit your decision viz a viz Mac OS.
(2) As an interim step, perhaps you could at least keep some space on
your customer support web site as a clearing house for
problems/solutions/experience with OS X. I.e., you could take a more
active role in supporting a customer base who are still purchasing Mac
OS products and licenses from you. Perhaps as a starting point, you
could explain, as far as you understand the issues, what would be
gained by a native OSX port vs. running in emulation mode. For
example, in communicating separately with Mathworks, it was pointed
out to me that the AltiVec isn't of much use to Matlab because "It's
only single precision and the vector length has to be a multiple of
four." Personally, reflecting on my use of Matlab, I would probably
be happy with a version 5.2.2 working with OSX in more or less the
same way it works now on OS 9.1.
