There have been many suggestions for a LaTeX friendly MATLAB. Joe Sababa helped
alot with his work (http://www.geocities.com/bstex2001), as have others--just do
a search, there are quite a few nice solutions.

Nonetheless, I never did understand why TMW worked so hard on visualization for
a community that often uses LaTeX, yet never really built up their support in
that area.

Maybe there's not enough money in it for them. Hopefully J.S. will fill that
niche and get the $ for himself.
