Some schools are refusing to pay for subs for grading. Liz

can you use retired math teachers in your area?

I will check with her. She is usually very careful not to share something she is not 100% sure of. She's new but we've been very impressed with her so far and I would bet that her information is correct. Kathy

We have the exact same situation. One Alg II & Trig teacher. My thoughts, is it allowed that the Algebra II and Trig teacher makes up the key and guides the other teacher correcting the exam through the correct solutions using the rubric as their guide before they even take the exams from the office to start to correct? One more thing, if I interpreted this correctly, are you saying that if there is a mathematical question, the principle is allowed to come and ask me about the validity of the solution? (even though I am the instructor of the course). May I ask for verification on this? Who said it was ok? Thank you, Melanie Hulton

My principal has checked this out and said that I cannot be in the same room. We will have one high school and two middle school teachers grading all three possibly with help from a third middle school teacher and an elementary teacher (who is also certified high school math but hasn't taught it in many years). Yes, this is going to be tough on the middle school teachers. In the past they have brought in substitutes for them for some of the days. We have always needed to call on their help with only two teachers in the high school. The process, if they have any questions, is that they must ask her first (the principal), then she must bring the question to the high school teacher me for both geometry and alg 2/trig. Integrated algebra shouldn't be quite as bad since I don't teach it but I wrote the curriculum for it so if any questions arise I can probably handle them.
