My review for the question from 800score.com is as follows:
For understanding the above problem the modulus function should be clear. You can refer in detail regarding the modulus here http://800score.com/guidec6view1b.htmlfunction

10-9|x-3| = 12

The modulus function can take both positive and negative values.
When the modulus function is positive ie x-3 (>=) 0

10-9(x-3) = 12
-9(x-3) = 2
(x-3) = -2/9
x = -2/9+3 = 25/9

But, this value doesn't satisfy x-3 (>=) 0
So,there is no solution
When the modulus function is negative ie x-3 (<=) 0

10+9(x-3) = 12
9(x-3) = 2
x-3 = 2/9
x = 29/9

But, this value doesn't satisfy x-3 (<=) 0
So,there is no solution

Hope it helps.

Best of luck!!
