Yeah, once you're in one of those math classes where every student has a keyboard and screen, probably a mouse or trackball, you've got a whole new vista for lesson planning, including messing with RGB values.
When providing prewritten source code as "scaffolding" it's often a first step to take control over colors, seeing what affect it has to change this or that RGB setting and rerender (thinking of POVRay in particular).
That may not be "math class" in your high school, but it may be your "STEM math" in community college.
