I agree, and I think Kirby would too. Yin and Yang. They really can't be taught separately very well either. Even courses that are meant to be mainly appreciative benefit from at least some baby performance exercises thrown in.
You won't really, really "get" that standard bell pattern (I referenced elsewhere,) until you can clap it with your hands, say, while beating 4 with your foot, (or any other way you like to use your body to express rhythm.)
