I sure managed to pack in the cliches on that one didn't I?
On further reflection, now that I've gotten over my shock, I should backpedal a little and retreat to my previous position: Common Core Mathematics standards are deliberately low and define the "poverty line" which any truly living curriculum would seek to rise well above.
Common Core Mathematics is deliberately not world class. It defines a bar below which you would consider a patient close to death, but above which there's some hope, some vital signs.
Rather than waste my breath decrying Common Core Mathematics, I'll just underscore that it's far far below any standard you'd want for yourself if having any aspirations to be mathematically informed. Anything below Common Core is Brain Dead.
