You say yourself
S = 0.3 + 0.03 + 0.03 + ... +3/10^n + ...
This is not how they wrote it.
They wrote S& = 0.3 + 0.03 + &...
This is actually S(n), not S (according to both Euclid and Euler).
From this they came to: lim S(n) = S (understood some limit not defined).
Get over it!
