With regard to Karen's statement that "our university admissions offices are 
telling our students that it is very important to have calculus in high school",
my perspective (from the university level) is that *some* colleges are looking 
for calculus. *Many* fine colleges do _not_ expect students to have taken 
calculus in high school.
