Subject: [HM] linear indeterminate equations

I am working on a paper on the history of linear indeterminate
equations. My understanding is that their history begins with
Aryabhatta(499). I have seen claims comparing the Indian methods
to those of the Chinese. Several authors claim that the methods
are different (Libbrecht, Katz). Others claim that they are the
same(Callinger, most authors who have written articles in the
Indian Journal of History of Science). I'm curious to find out
how others perceive this comparison. Does Kim Plofker have an
opinion?
