Subject: Request for Accepted Calculators

Hello All,

As requested by Regina earlier today I shall create a clear, concise list and the process on how to enter and exit Testing Mode.

I do encourage everyone to look at the TI New York State page created for educators at www.education.ti.com/newyork<http://www.education.ti.com/newyork>

A lot of the answers can be found there. I shall send a message later today with a detailed list and process for assisting those proctoring exams.

Have a great day!

I am putting a call out to Texas Instruments (Dana) ...

Please publish a list of acceptable calculators (model number and operating system if necessary) and if Press-to-test is needed and how to do it.

We had/have non-math people administering Regents exams in our schools (our district abolished department chairs this year) and they have no idea what are acceptable calculators as they do not know which calculators are OK and which are not (as well as the non-math administrators that put them in charge.) To be honest, most of our math teachers are pretty "fuzzy" as New York State refuses to list by name acceptable calculators...and most are not aware of how to enable and disable the Press-to-test mode. A clear, concise list would be most helpful to all.
THANK YOU!!!

Subject: What to do with Calculators Past their Prime

In response to the inquiries about what to do with graphing calculators that are beyond the warranty and can't be revived by the TI Call Center (1-800-TI-CARES), here is an article to assist:

Disposal or Recycling of Old or Inoperable graphing calculators
What is the best method for disposal of inoperable calculators?

TI is concerned about mounting electronic waste and the proper disposal of products at the end of their useful life. Accordingly, Texas Instruments Education Technology products are designed to withstand years of use and graphing calculators can be upgraded with new software. They also incorporate many product and packaging materials that can be disposed of in environmentally friendly ways.

If you need to dispose of calculator products that are at the end of their useful life or are inoperable, you may find a recycling facility in or around your area through one of the third-party websites below.

Reference our Knowledge Base case on recycling rechargeable batteries<http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetNumber=10653> for more information on disposal of Ni-Cad and other rechargeable batteries.

Due to the varied local regulations and practices, TI recommends that you contact your local recycling facility or government agency to determine what is appropriate in your area.

Hello All ~

Just a quick question. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can do with our old TI calculators that no longer work. We have tried all of the tricks and these calculators are definitely dead. We have about 50 of them.

Does TI offer a recycling program or is there a place where we can recycle them?

Thanks for your input!

Subject: Getting TI Calculators Regents Exam Ready

Hello All,

With January Regent Exam week upon us, this is when the questions start coming in about how to prepare the different models of TI graphing calculators for the exams.

I have attached the comprehensive guides for preparing the TI-84+ and TI-Nspire models for exams.

For the TI-83+, the standard (2nd , ?+?, #7, Reset All) is fine.

Please check the current Operating Systems on the calculators being used on the exams.

Latest OS for the different Models:
TI-83+ v1.19
TI-84+ v2.55MP
TI-Nspire v3.1
TI-Nspire CX v3.1

Download the latest OS here: http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/#Software

For additional information you can visit www.education.ti.com/newyork<http://www.education.ti.com/newyork><http://www.education.ti.com/newyork> or contact your TI Consultant directly.
