They have their own colleges, their own students, their own publications. They seem to get plenty of money, from the federal government and from other sources, to conduct their own "research". Not only do they seem to be doing just fine, they seem to be growing from strength to strength.

I didn't specify their problem is their image by my eyes.

Boaler certainly seems concerned with her image at Stanford, and most
Ed.D.'s are probably aware of their relative standing in academia.
