"Maybe the reports are the same but It seemed to me that in the 50's and 60's, the result was more talent directed. There was more emphasis on academic competition."
It was also before education became the biggest welfare organization on the planet.
The cost of an American public education (as a percent of GDP) has doubled in order to make Blacks whole from their centuries of slavery. The "states" which spend the most per student (i.e., DC and New Jersey, at $25,000) do a fabulous job of this relative to the states which spend the least (Iowa and North Dakota, at a paltry $5,000 each, only twice as high as Japan and Korea). Of the 5,662 students in North Dakota tested by ACT last year, NO blacks were qualified for college, and of the 22,943 tested in Iowa, a mere 41 Blacks (or 0.6% of all students), were qualified for college.
Conversely, ACT found that 162 Black students in New Jersey were qualified for college, AND that 26 Blacks in DC (1.7% of their students) were qualified for college.
Is this how we measure success in this brave new world?
There are 1,440,000 school age children in New Jersey who allegedly cost $25,000 per year to educate, or a mere $36 billion. If New Jersey were to somehow reign in their education spending to a level TWICE the cost per student of Japan or Korea, or $5,000, they could save a mere $28.8 billion annually.
Would this mean that the number of Blacks from New Jersey qualified for college would drop to the level of North Dakota, or zero, a reduction of 162 American Blacks in college (or at least qualified for college)? Does this mean that New Jersey spends an EXTRA $28.8 billion annually ($178 million PER BLACK) JUST to try to make them whole from centuries of slavery?
Or is this simply a slick, ingenious welfare program for New Jersey?
The same question should be asked about DC. HOW could you have the richest Blacks on the PLANET so concentrated in one small area, complete with five DIFFERENT police forces, wars on drugs, wars on poverty, wars on guns, the most EXORBITANT expenditures for education, and utterly unlimited federal funds: and produce a mere 26 college ready Blacks per year?
This isn't how you measure success. This is how you measure failure.
Where does all this money come from? The budget for the entire STATE of New Jersey is only $29.2 billion, so the EXTRA $28.8 billion they spend JUST for education comes from WHERE?
All of you racists screeching for equality need to sink your teeth into THAT inequality: how do we make it so that Iowa dosn't have to pay taxes which fund the senseless welfare state in New Jersey in the name of "education" which *does not work*?
