SOLUTIONS: 2013 MATHEMATICS GAME

http://mathforum.org/yeargames/yeargameentrys?find=BySolutionFor&form

Got an expression for 83 using the digits in the year 2013,
standard operations, and grouping symbols? How about for 88?

Just a few hours ago, we posted all the correct solutions
submitted to the 2013 Mathematics Game; and through February,
we will continue accepting more -- including for those last two
unsolved numbers!

PoW taking place: math problem-solving moment of the week

"Reflection: I did not show my thought process as clearly as I
would have liked. So on the extra, I am going to actually show
how my mind works. Scary. I was completely lost at the
beginning of the problem, but now I understand modular
arithmetic."

- Kenna, highlighted in the Algebra PoW's Latest Solution

FREE MENTORING

http://mathforum.org/pow/free_mentoring.html

Mentor groups from Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Quebec will
provide feedback to students who submit to Problems of the
Week that open on these dates:

- FunPoW: March 11 and April 8
- PreAlgPoW: February 4
- AlgPoW: February 11
- GeoPoW: February 4 and 18, March 4 and 18, and April 1

Please have your students submit solutions; and if they receive
replies from a mentor, encourage them to revise. Not only will
your students learn more, but the mentors will learn as well!

Want to get in on the fun, but don't have a membership?
Register a trial account, which lets you submit to the Current
Problems of the Week for 21 days, and access the Problems of

Now taking place: math education conversation of the day

"We asked Dana Morse to come into our school today to show us
the new TI 84+ C. Really no changes other than a backlit LCD
color screen. BUT then he showed us the TI-Nspire CX and we
were floored. The options are completely unlimited with it...."

group of the Association of Math Teachers of New York State
