"WYTIWYG - What You Test Is What You Get" was given in the SAYINGS
XLIII posting
two days ago with "Unknown" as the source. Since then I have learned
that it is attributed to Hugh Burkhardt - see

Burkhardt H (2001) World Class Assessment: principles, practice and
problem solving in Assessing Gifted and Talented Children,
Richardson C (ed), London: Qualifications and Curriculum Authority.

Burkhardt mentions that: "It is a truth that every teacher facing
high-stakes tests knows. Test commissioners and developers prefer to
deny it ("tests are just measurement") because they would have to up
their design skills massively - and spend a bit more. From the sample
released "items" from PARCC/SBAC, as opposed to their
rhetoric, WYTIWYG looks likely, once again, to blight the improvement
in math ed outlined in the Common Core State Standards in
