Subject: standard error of simple random sampling

Dear All,

I am making my internship in statistics but I am not familiar with sampling, so I am learning.

I have a document here telling me that the standard error for simple random sampling at the national level is 1/ sqrt(n) , with n the sample size.

is this an approximation ? can somebody explain to me ? Nobody in my internship can.. Would be really kind of you!!
