Why would we even want to have "the final word on anything?" Even very old concepts may be challenged with a fresh perspective. I hear myself in the classroom telling students, "Why don't you go back and re-think this problem?" I ask the public the same question. Why not?

In other words, in addition to ideology, conformity, and careerism, we can add naivete and incompetence to the list of reasons why nothing, not even science articles in peer reviewed journals, can be the final word on anything.
