2. Anne D. Cockburn (School of Education and Lifelong Learning University of East Anglia, United Kingdom) - "To generalise, or not to generalise, that is the question" (with apologies to Hamlet and William Shakespeare)

3. Nicolina Malara (Department of Mathematics University of Modena & Reggio E., Italy)

Working seminars - the most important part of the conference. Each participant is invited to be a member of one of the working groups that will meet several times during the conference. Discussions and exchange of experiences and ideas are the essential aspects of this activity. It is designed as "an opportunity for participants who want to create something useful for their future work, based on the ideas gathered during the conference". Participants will not present ready-made results, but will work together to create something new, to design education. They will work on their materials and ideas that they got during conference or bring for common discussion, to work it out for classroom practice. Such work could have the potential to help participants find the conference more engaging and to help participants in their further professional work. It will also make the conference a valuable catalyst in provoking new projects that grow out of the work of the conference itself.

Leaders of the Working Seminars:

level 3-6: Inge Schwank, Institute for Cognitive Mathematics University of Osnabrueck, Germany: Foster number related logical reasoning in order to reach a better insight in arithmetic.

level 7-9: Jenni Back, NRICH Primary Co-ordinator (Website) Centre for Mathematical Sciences Cambridge, United Kingdom: Using rich tasks to support and develop children's understanding of and skills in mathematical generalising.

level 10-12: Michal Tabach, Tel Aviv University, Israel: A critical look at tasks for 10-12 year old students: Promoting generalization.

level 13-16: Gergely Wintsche, Mathematics Teaching and Education Center of Eötvös Lóránd University, Hungary: Generalization Through Problem Solving and Creating.
