The London Knowledge Lab (LKL) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow
to contribute to the Cornerstone Project, which is led by Prof Celia
Hoyles and Prof Richard Noss. This project forms part of a
proposal agreed by the Li Ka Shing Foundation to fund SRI
International to investigate and scale the use of their proven
effective mathematics materials that exploit the innovative use of
digital technology for learning mathematics across several
mathematical units. The LKL will be working with SRI
International to deliver this programme in the UK, and is responsible
for providing local expertise in the modification, implementation,
research and evaluation of the mathematics materials and software
platform.
You will contribute to the research work of the Cornerstone
Project, taking responsibility for day-to-day research support in
collaboration with, and supervised by, the Project Directors.
Alongside your main responsibilities for the Cornerstone Project and
to the Project Directors, you will be encouraged to develop your own
area of expertise, forming connections where appropriate with other
research within the LKL and across the IOE, including developing
proposals for further funded research opportunities.
You will have a first degree or equivalent in mathematics,
mathematics education, or other relevant field; and a PhD in or
related to the field of mathematics education. We require
someone with a vision of the roles that digital technologies can play
in the learning of mathematics, and experience in the collection and
analysis of student-computer interaction in a mathematical context.
You will also be required to demonstrate prior experience of
collecting data in schools or similar educational institutions,
with evidence of good data collection and evaluation skills.
The appointment will be subject to a CRB Disclosure.
