One Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of
Mathematics Education: Elementary Education

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at
The University of Alabama continues seeking
applications for a tenure-track position in
Elementary Mathematics Education. The position
will be filled at the Assistant or Associate
level, depending on experience.

· Earned doctorate in education related to the
teaching and learning of mathematics education in
Elementary education
· At least 2 years teaching experience in K-6 classrooms
· Evidence of scholarly potential required for
appointment at the Assistant level
· Requisite expertise and experience in
scholarly activity required for appointment at
the Associate level
· Ability to pursue a research agenda and external funding
· Ability to teach courses in mathematics education
· Ability to teach courses in general elementary education
· Ability to teach with a multicultural perspective
· Ability to integrate technology into instruction
· Ability to integrate inclusion concepts into instruction
· Commitment to collaborative collegiality
· Knowledge of distance education, web-assisted,
and other alternative delivery models

· Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in
elementary mathematics education, and - if
qualified - general education
· Maintain an active research/publication record
· Direct graduate research studies in mathematics education
· Obtain external funding in support of mathematical education research
· Conduct research in mathematics education and publish in scholarly journals
· Supervise practicum and internship experiences
· Serve on student and faculty committees
· Advise students
· Participate in program development
· Collaborate with Professional Development Schools
· Provide service within the University, to
state and local educational agencies, and to
relevant professional organizations
