Some years ago such a construction was exhibited in the East Wing of the
National Gallery in Washington, D.C. I believe it was designed by the
sculptor Lucas Samaras. It was a small-house-sized cubicle into which
museum guards allowed three or four of us at a time, wearing paper slippers
(hospital style) on our feet. It was made up of blocks with panes of
reflecting glass, as I recall about two feet on a side, on all sides and
above and below. Inside, the perspectives were mesmerizing, particularly
looking down, and the waiting lines of people grew long as many of us
lingered, then emerged and returned to the end of the line to repeat the
experience.
