I'm currently in school at Western Washington Univ getting my degree in MathEd. I have had an advisor that has stressed the NCTM Standards and also advocates the idea of making mathematics relavant to our future members of society. The idea of making math fun in the classroom (and outside as well) is an idea that excites me and make me WANT to become a teacher. However, I realize that I will not always be able to have those classroom activities that make mathematics exciting and there will be times that I will have to rely on printed sources. Yet in the recent days I've explored the internet resources and have come to the conclusion that it is not necessary for myself to stick to the daytoday routines of mathematics that we've all had (Lecture followed by seat work). I hope that with this new resource and the idea of a POW that perhaps I do not know, this will enrich my students understanding and desire to learn mathematics or any subject for that matter.
