Work your way up to it.
How many pairs of teams of 1 each from a pool of 2 players?
How many pairs of teams of 2 each from a pool of 4 players?
How many pairs of teams of 3 each from a pool of 6 players?
How many pairs of teams of 4 each from a pool of 8 players?
...
