Q : when are students typically exposed to radians?

I hope this isn't too left field a question.

My question concerns when (at what level) it would be appropriate to use radians in discussions/materials and expect the audience to be generally familiar with the term/concept (when, for example, might it be reasonably expected that the audience know that there are 2pi radians in a circle).
