Teachers of Mathematics.

RESTON, VA, June 18, 2013-Robert M. Doucette has been selected
executive director of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
(NCTM). He will assume the responsibilities of his new position on
August 15.

"Bob Doucette brings to the Council an impressive record of success
in association management for another STEM organization," said NCTM
President Linda Gojak. "He brings rich and diverse experience in
leadership with mission-driven organizations, and he has a
well-rounded perspective that should help NCTM leadership guide the
Council's work. I am pleased that he has agreed to lead NCTM's
headquarters in support of the Council's vision of a high-quality
mathematics education for all students."

Doucette comes to the position at NCTM from the Society for
Neuroscience, where he has been deputy executive director since 2005.
During his time there, he had direct oversight of every programmatic
and operational function of the organization, including journal
publishing and scientific meeting content, conference and exhibit
management, operations and governance, human resources, finance,
development, and information systems. He also has held positions with
the National Society of Professional Engineers, where he was director
of information systems, and the National Association of State
Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, where he was assistant director
of administration and finance. Since 1990, Doucette has lent his
expertise to well over a dozen trade and professional associations,
both as a staff executive and as a management consultant.

"I am honored to be given this opportunity, and I look forward to
working with the staff and NCTM leadership to build on the Council's
past successes," Doucette said. "The increased focus on STEM
education and the ongoing implementation of the Common Core State
Standards are evidence of the importance of mathematics in education
today and in our nation's future. I'm eager to support the Council in
making the most of these opportunities."

Doucette earned a B.S. in history from the Catholic University of
America in Washington, D.C., and an M.S. in business/information
systems management from the University of Maryland. He is also a
Certified Association Executive (CAE).

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is the public voice
