"In elementary grades in Poland we had math-trained teachers teach us that subject and only that subject. We the students never changed rooms. The teachers came to our room to teach us the subject in which they specialized.

And that is where it begins. Each subject is treated seriously from the beginning of schooling"

Ditto for Germany and Japan.

Which is why teachers in Germany and Japan don't have to "demand respect": the students naturally respect them because their teachers KNOW math, CAN teach math, and students LEARN math.

And that's why they don't need any more studies about how to make teachers who don't know math [per this forum, "hate math"] "teach" math.

It's the world's worst con job.
