perturbation from linearity of vector spaces

One idea I mentioned to Andrej Bona and Michael Slawinski a
while ago and they didn't seem too interested (so it may be no
good) is that there could be perturbations from linearity of vector
spaces.

If you like the idea feel free to run with it but please reference
this post. If you follow up on this post to say the idea has
been taken, please provide a reference.
