mapping cone shape to sphere

I have characterised the spatial uniformity of a spherical imaging
device and I need help to map the derived non-uniform pixel values (1)
to those of an ideal sphere (2). Could anyone please suggest a method.
I have made a couple of images to help illustrate my problem at
