All-
First, thanks to Murat for sharing the chat article and to Johann for setting up the discussion board. And thanks to all for legitimizing my peripheral participation in the entire enterprise.
Now the invitation. As some of you already know, I need to give my "New Faculty" presentation at my college (The College of New Jersey, to be precise) on Friday, February 25th. The title of my presentation is "Critical Ethnography and Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning." The talk will be strictly limited to 15 minutes and will be my way of letting folks at the college know that I am interested in doing this type of work. Hopefully, this will flush out some potential collaborators. Although I donÂt plan to say much about CA, I do intend to mention the work you folks are doing as an exemplar of what I am interested in pursuing. Gerry and I chatted after the session this week, and we agreed that it might be a good idea for me to give a practice run.
Therefore, I would like to do a practice run of my presentation on Wednesday, February 23rd at 2:30 in the Math Forum conference room. I would need to do an uninterrupted 15 minute run-through, but would then be interested in comments and suggestions. I am also working on a longer literature-review article of the same title. However, I need to warn you: Although I greatly admire AlanÂs (theoretical) purity, I donÂt think I can aspire to it. This could get epistemologically messy.
If you are wondering who the Hell I am, my home page is: http://www.tcnj.edu/%7Elibrary/epperson/index.html
IÂm planning to attend the data sessions (or as I prefer to think of them, the Theory/Praxis Dialectic sessions) on Feb 16th and 23rd. March 2nd wonÂt work for me, but March 9th is a possibility
See ya then.
