variables can be made from elementary symmetric ones (like x^3+y^3+z^3=(x+y+z)^33(x+y+z)(xy+xz+yz)+3xyz). Does anybody knows any software that is able to find reprezentations like listed above? More generally, there is a theorem that garantees that instead of elementary symmetric polinoms we can use any symmetric polinoms of degrees 1,2, .. n. (for instance, x+y+z, x^2+y^2+z^2, x^2y+xy^2+..+yz^2 instead of x+y+z, xy+xz+yz, xyz in case n=3). Is there any software that is able to find reprezentations not only using elementary symmetric base, but using some other base (so I give the symmetic polinom and the base (n symmetric polinoms of degrees 1,2,..n), and the program shows me, how can my polinom be represented with the polinoms of base) ? If there is a choice, I prefer Linux, but other Unix, or dos/windows is possible also. Reply only via email, please (I live in Russia...) Thanks & excuse my poor english, please :).  Best regards!
