The year 1492 belongs to the 15-th century A.D. rather than to the 14-th, which
is surprising a bit. Than it came to my notice that in Italian "quatro cento",
i.e., "forteenth century" is the century of Leonardo de Vinci and the
flourishing of the Italian art, i.e., the century of 1400-1499 which in English
and French is designated as the 15-th century. According to this Italian usage
Jesus lived in the 0-th century A.D. as well as in the 0-th century B.C., which
is an absurd.
So from this respect, at least, 1492 A.D. should belong to the 15-th rather than
to the 14-th century A.D.
