Question on matrix multiplication

The product of two complex numbers is a complex number whose magnitude is the product of the magnitudes, and whose phase is the sum of the phases. Is there a similar theorem for the product of nonsingular matrices, involving the product of the determinants multiplied by something of unit determinant?
