Did Laplace write on sound the first time in 1816 or in 1784 ?
Has anyone a reference for these memoirs (preferentially readable on net)?
He asked Clément and Désormes to measure gamma, who designed an experiment
founded on an relation between temperature and pressure during adiabatic
expansion and not on the specific heats for constant volume and pressure.
Did Laplace introduce gamma through the specific heat for constant volume
and pressure or more heuristically ?

Thanks
