Probably wrong (smile), but b) £9.36
One possible way to read the problem seems to be as follows:
Let P be the old price and P' the new, then P'=1.3*P
Let E be the number of eggs, then (E-3)*P' = £7.80 and E*P = £7.80
Solving gives 13 eggs and hence P' = £.78
