Who's D. E. Smith?

Hi everybody,
Can anyboby help me? I'd like to know who is D. E. Smith.
I think that he's an U.S. mathematician, and he wrote in 1947 about poetry and
mathematics.
I have no more informations, but... in you I trust :)
