Dear math educator colleagues,

I found another but obscure, tongue-in-cheek reason why mathematics alienates
some folks.

Place one word 'atop' the other, forming ten valid 2-letter words:


ALIENATES
MATHEMATICS


AM, LA, etc. are all allowable in Scrabble {tm} crossword game play. (Computer
program I developed found this 'match', saving me thousands of seconds.)
